Ahhhhhh

Feels good to be back. I'm returning a little bigger. Did you know San Antonio is the fattest city two years running? In my book, it also happens to be the nicest cities too.

In addition to the general demeanor, here are some of the things that happened. A waiter walked us through his bar, down two blocks into another bar, seated us and got us menus. Someone offered me a dollar to take the trolley. A very dignified looking man saw a woman with her crying child and gave them a high end stuffed animal (and gave another one to a kid who watched the whole thing).

Pictures will be continually added to my Flickr.

First Day

I'm glad that I'm here a little early. I'm very impressed with San Antonio. It helps that this is also the first night of the weeklong Fiesta, which is quite a party. I'm posting my first few pictures on my Flickr.

Hot Hot Hot

San Antonio will be in the 90's during my stay.

Yay

I'm leaving tomorrow for an APA conference. I'll be back Wednesday.

Chamillionaire

I was hoping I'd be the Chamillionaire but someone has taken the title. Who am I kidding, I wasn't going to get there anyway.

The Question

Does this look like Michael? I say no. For one thing, I always had a really wild boy grin on my face...

Story of My Life

It is abundantly clear what I need to do. In basketball, everyone has been telling me to shoot more. Now at work, I've been told to speak up more. Who knew that I was such a passive guy?

Sore

Went to the Temple City batting cage during a pleasant Easter Sunday. I'm feeling incredibly sore right now. It's somewhat satisfying but a bit too achy for me. All those swing and misses really can hurt a guy...

Today

It was a wonderful Ktown evening. The kind that I'll never have once I move away. Dinner at Beverly Tofu, drinks at the Bounty, and even found a "go to" pool hall.

FYI, Lawyer is #37.

"Playful"

I just got a hilarious joke email from a coworker: You've been so serious lately...What happen to the playful Mikey?

Baseball

There must be some problem with me because I love baseball. I don't have cable so I value every game I can catch on KCOP. And tonight's game was quite a treasure.

Cars

I suspect something is going on. This past weekend, I randomly saw a livejournal friend from SF on an LA freeway. Someone had just rear ended him. That night, I also saw some hoodlums race down Vermont and slam a car into a furniture store. They came out puffing their chests and laughing. Last, two different cars have recently changed lanes right into me w/o looking.

Something is coming. I know it. Time to drive more cautiously. And time to not forget to put my seat belt on...

Birthday

Jason and I celebrated his bday by dressing up as classic villains from our youth. Everyone else went 80's. My flickr also has pictures of sailing and a recent dinner with Matthew, Aileen and John.

Racist?

Is The Yellow Series by Adidas racist? Does it matter? I tend to not care. Besides, I'm happily a New Balance man myself.

Angel Observations

GA smiles much more than previous seasons. Esteban Yan must go.

2:46am

I'm going to bed. Just finished my "costume". It would be pathetic if it wasn't so funny. Expect pictures by the end of the weekend.

Stat Shocker?

According to Page 2 at ESPN, Baseball Prospectus claims that this current Angel is #19 in Best Career Clutch Ratings Since 1972.

His name is none other than Darin Erstad.

Take that, Rob Neyer!

Funny

I like Coldplay again.

Epoch Times

Everytime I go to A'Float Sushi in Pasadena, I look to pick up the Epoch Times. It's one of those free weekly papers except it is all about the bad things about the Communist Chinese government. The cover story is always about how their offices got broken into, or how their computers were stolen, and most recently... one of their leaders was killed.

It's very X-Files except China is the aliens. And you know what? It might very well be true. You never know what's going on out east. That's what I say.

God is good

Life is surprising. I'm surprised by what I'm finding out about myself and from whom I'm finding it out from. Perhaps an event did affect me more than I thought. And what am I to do with this knowledge? Make the best I suppose and unlearn lessons I never wanted to know.

TV Blog

I got an email from Amy, a person who has started a How I Met Your Mother fansite! Check it out. I'm going to see if I can get my inside contact to give her some access or maybe the scoop on some juicy news.

Business

The Moreno, Stoneman, Sciosica combo is so awesome. They are my business management role models.

Team manager Mike Sciosica controls his clubhouse. If anyone gets out of line, they are gone a la Jose Guillen. GM Bill Stoneman out negotiates the evil super agent Scott Boras for pitching prospect Jered Weaver. Owner Arte Moreno beats the City of Anaheim over the name change and now has signed a big time television deal with Fox Sports, ensuring that almost every game will be televised.
The financial terms of the contract — $500 million over 10 years — have not changed since February, when Angel owner Arte Moreno called the package "a done deal." Moreno broke off talks last Wednesday, over what sources called issues surrounding emerging technologies, but the parties resumed discussions Friday.

For the second time in nine years, FSN paid handsomely to stop the Angels from starting a cable channel.

In 1998, when Disney proposed ESPN West for the Angels and Mighty Ducks, FSN secured 10-year rights to both teams for $140 million.

This time, with the Angels coming off consecutive division championships and setting team records in attendance and television ratings, FSN paid $500 million for the Angels alone. In its initial bid last October, FSN offered about $340 million for 10 years.

Under the old contract, FSN would have paid the Angels $14.5 million for the rights to 50 games this season. Under the new deal, which takes effect immediately, FSN will pay about $32 million for 150 games, with the rights fee increasing annually.
And the best part about all three of them is that they conduct their business with class. I'm pumped up for tonight's home opener!

I'm Not Alone

I may not eat it every week but I always look forward to Filet o Fish Friday.

One thing to another...

Really wanted to find some good music so I went to see Her Space Holiday at the Troubadour. Pretty good for $12 bucks but it was a bit too dance emo for me.

My competitive nature has been under control during basketball lately. It's funny, I used to be much more concerned with the quality of my play... now I'm always thinking about how I play the game. You see, I'm working on personal growth tips I got from personalitypage.com. I've got quite a temper. I wish you could see how mad I get inside. It's pretty funny actually.

But things have been sincerely blessed lately. And it's happening in the more important aspects of life, as opposed to how well I shoot outside.
