Basketball

It looks likely that the Lakers and Clippers will meet in the second round of the NBA playoffs. Thus far, I've been able to root for both teams but the time will come where I'll pick a side in this fight.

Objectively, I give the Clippers the edge in overall talent. On the other side, the Lakers have the best single player on the court, the better coach, and history on their side. It will be close but my guess is Lakers in 7.

Who will I root for? I'm going to wait for the series to start before making that call.

Babysitting

I am typically the "good cop" when babysitting but had to take on a more balanced role last night. Going solo wasn't too difficult though because all four kids were really well behaved. It helps that I get incredibly detailed instructions on how each child is taught. It's funny, I don't ever remember getting "time outs" or having to say, "I'm sorry I didn't share."

The boys played a new variation of the pretend to sleep game, which I played as a kid. We would say "good night!", turn off the lights, snore, say "good morning!", and then jump on the bed. Unfortunately, I forgot that there was a "no jumping on the bed" rule for the first half hour.

The girls joined in a little later. I tried to handle all four as long as I could, but eventually resorted to playing a Disney Christmas dvd (chosen by the girls). When their attention started to drift, I brought out the finger puppet craft. Before long, the parents were done with their meeting and my night was done.

Work

I have just been officially notified of a promotion! It was three years in the making and quite small in the way that matters but nevertheless it is a happy day for me.

Additionally, I have a new assignment. It isn't an ideal situation since it is an already existing project, but working on the San Pedro Waterfront is an awesome opportunity. The next few months will be very interesting.

Reset

It's that time again. This blog is reset after only 171 entries. Of the previous 5 versions, 327 posts remains my high water mark of blog longevity.
