I just posted an article on Facebook so I thought I'd put it up here too. What Makes People Vote Republican? This is a long winded exploration of those on the right from one on the left. Probably too boring except for political and psychological (and middle right) junkies like me.

Fascinating article. While I don't agree with everything he says, the does a good job of articulating issues. His conclusion is revealing:
Until Democrats understand this point, they will be vulnerable to the seductive but false belief that Americans vote for Republicans primarily because they have been duped into doing so.
If you think I have to be an idiot to hold my views, how are we ever going to have constructive dialogue?
